Eco-Friendly Packaging : Why it's so important at WHEY AHEAD®

Everything we do centres around our values : CLEAN | STRONG | ORGANIC. We're never going to cut corners! It was important that no stone was left unturned so when it came to our packaging, we were particularly picky...

Yes, it would have been easier, cheaper and quicker to choose a plastic pouch, but this would not align to our values nor the environment. So many big brand protein companies use large plastic tubs or pouches lined with aluminium foil. With a massive problem in our oceans due to plastic micro-beads harming wildlife, plastic was not in the question. We would not settle for anything less than recyclable, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved kraft paper from sustainable, managed forests for our products (see details below). The sustainability of the environment is at the heart of the organic movement and we want to ensure we have a minimal impact and carbon footprint for that matter.

Here's a summary of the detail behind our product packaging:

Pouches : FSC approved kraft paper (recyclable) lined with PE food-grade, Bisphenol-free (BPA-free) plastic rather than aluminium foil. PE plastic lining requires much less energy to produce and is more environmentally friendly.

Scoops : Recyclable, food-grade BPA-free plastic.

Labels : Printed on FSC approved mix paper using eco-friendly inks.

Shipping Boxes : FSC approved cardboard produced in a UK paper-mill to reduce carbon footprint (travel time).

Matcha Tubes : FSC approved kraft paper (recyclable) produced in the UK.

Shakers : BPA-free plastic to prevent any unwanted hormones/chemicals leaking into your shake.

Business Cards : More expensive 'green' version made from recycled paper.

Thanks for reading this article as part of our new organic academy and please drop us a line with any suggestions on how we can further reduce our carbon footprint. We'd love to hear from you!
