When we hear the word 'DIET' we often think of weight loss, restriction and general 'cutting back'. A sense of not being where we want to be physically enters our minds and we anticipate the struggle it will take to get 'there'.
Stop. Let's re-write the rulebook and change the way we think about DIET. It's often forgotten but DIET is in fact, food intake and habits that are individual to you!
We reckon the problem started with the daily temptations we face and lack of advice on what's healthy. As a way of fighting against the result of this (health problems/weight gain), we continue to search for ways to quickly & easily restrict ourselves - cutting out carbs, cutting out sugar, cutting out fats...the cuts and the fads continue...Some people successfully change their diets this way but for how long?
The issue with fads or crazes is that a) there are so many out there that it's confusing to know where to start and b) they are not necessarily sustainable nor help you achieve balanced health. Like a lot of things in life, DIET is not a sprint, it's a marathon. It's about knowing what to eat and being consistent over time. It's a balancing act. Once we know what we need to fuel our bodies, we can start to be unique and play with our DIET, learning from one-another along the way. That doesn't mean we should all eat the same foods because let's face it; we all have different taste buds (at WHEY AHEAD® we love Marmite!). It just means we can share knowledge on the healthy, balanced choices that exist, giving us more options.
If we think of DIET as our generous and sustaining friend, we become more excited rather than daunted about meal planning. It's about giving ourselves the right nutrients to fuel our bodies for peak performance rather than restriction. #FuelNotFad. There is an array of vibrant, flavoursome choices out there to help us become more creative with our diets.
